Steps for brushing dry hair:
- Work in sections. Start from the mid-lengths of hair or a few centimeters away from the ends, and brush downward to the ends. Repeat until hair is tangle-free.
- Move the brush 3 cm up from where you started and continue brushing downward until you have removed all tangles from that section.
- Continue moving up your hair until you reach to your scalp, and from here, brush the entire length of your hair a few times.
PRO TIP: Most damage happens when we battle with our hair and are rougher with our brushing than we need to be. So be gentle and go slow.
Steps for brushing damp hair:
- Use absorbent towel to remove as much water from your hair as possible then let your hair air dry for a minimum of five minutes.
- Work in sections. Use the brush on the very ends of your hair first and remove tangles and knots in the area.
- Brush downward motion. Don’t force the brush through your hair. It is advised to avoid brushing the hair from the roots and to ends because exposes the hair to breakage and tearing, and it will be difficult to remove the knots and tangles that will eventually collect.
- Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you reach the scalp, then brush the entire hair in downward motion several times.
PRO TIP: Generally, hair is at its most vulnerable and sensitive state when it is damp, following the steps above with care is crucial to keeping hair healthy and damage-free.
